Paco the Dancer wrote: Hello board, I am about to purchase the MC mix and probably the control also and I am looking for some feedback from people who own and use these with Logic. They seem like a good way to go for a project studio.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks I have both.
Make sure if /when you get them, you set it up properly. Old School properly. You need to get a proper ethernet hub to get them all talking together properly. First, install the most current MC Control software from the internets. Do NOt hook up anything until AFTER installing this software. Then, turn everything off. Including the computer.
Turn on in this order: 1.- The Ethernet Hub. 2.- MC Control. Don't turn on the MC Mix yet. Do only one, and then add the second controller. 3.- The computer. Once this happens, the Euphonix control software will auto-detect the MC Control. The first time it took a little longer.
When it finds it, you need to update the firmware (if it already is updated, the software will tell you this). Once you have one set up, turn it all off again, and hook up the second controller. After this rather tedious process, it will work all the time, as the software will more quickly recognize each controller on the hub.

Does the McMix or Control have an EQ mode such as the Mackie Control 'EQ + Vpot 8'? This is an awesome feature I use regularly. Hi, The MC Control has 8 endless encoders, tied in to the screen. They can be at the touch of one or two presses, turned into controllers for whatever you have focussed on the screen. It's amazing. Any time you open a plugin, it's there on the knobs.
On the MC Mix, it's the same thing, only the knobs are across all faders. You have a bunch of modes you can tell it what you want to show initially on the knobs, and one press gets you to the plugin in control mode. Plus, on the MC Control, you can have programming, yes, I said programming, of the button icons on the touch screen. You can program ANY command or even a macro (set of keycommnds) to one screen button. Sure saves time, if you do a lot of repetitive commands.
For Logic, it has something like 22 PAGES (at 20 buttons per page) of keycommands ready to go. This is over 440 commands right there, all labelled.

I just want to add that it seems like the MC control could actually act as a sort of tutorial for Logic since it helps bring you most of the major commands and functions and allows a user to program commands to help get you deeper into the software without so much memorization. I have Cubase also and I was getting the hang of it before I got Logic. So I am curious to try Cubase again with the MC control to see how much I can do.
Obviously you have to really learn your software and get deeper into levels but I seem to have hit a wall lately with learning Logic and I have been more in the mood to write and just lay down tracks. Hope this makes sense. Feb 15, 2009 10:18 PM. Hello, I just got the MC Control arrived. But I am having troubles starting up Logic after I installed the software for the Euphonix MC Control. Logic crashes at the splash-screen exactly when it shows 'Starting up EuCon Support'. When I remove EU Control Software everything is back to normal again.
I tried software version 1.2.1 & 1.2.4 with firmware update but the problem remains. Please, somebody tell me what I can do in order to use this product with Logic, because now it is completely useless to me.
Feb 16, 2009 3:12 AM. That can happen once. Be sure of a few things: 1- You've patched up your machine. If you're running some kind of old OS, get it up and updated. 2- Be sure you've patched up logic. 3- only use 1.2.4 4- I would quit the Euphonix EuControl, start logic, then start the EuControl but just the first time.
Let logic come up. Set logic to not open up a song by default. Quit logic then start EuControl, turn on your console and wait for it to boot, and then start logic. You should be good to go from there. R Feb 16, 2009 7:39 AM.
